Our History

The first Bosnians came to Seattle around late 1992/early 1993. In the entire state of Washington, the first Bosniak emigrated to Spokane after World War II. As a result of growing demand for organizing Bosniaks (fostering religion, culture, tradition, both in children and in young and adult), and quite a large community of Bosnians here in Seattle, and beyond in Washington state, we found a need to establish an institution to preserve the Bosniak culture from complete alienation from our homeland of Bosnia, religion, traditions and other things that go along with it. We also found a need to teach children and young adults of the culture of Bosnians as a means of maintaining heritage and pride in one’s ancestry.
